There are certainly a different trading intervals ~ intraday, momentum, and long-term investment.
I certainly would hover around these 3.
Trading on US stocks market is generally great for us living in Asia due to the market hours being outside our uni/working hours.
This allows sometime for us to prepare and plan for price actions while waiting for the market to open at night.
Although the market hours would remain open in sleeping hours and closes in early morning, hence, it is always good to set a stop loss (SL)/ take profit (TP) before going to bed. Better yet we could utilize those alerts on TradingView to wake us up whenever we are nearing a certain TP/SL level or price.
In short, blue chips are known to be popular stocks, aka those top market cap companies that are listed on NASDAQ (Nasdaq100) or DOW (DowJones30) US financial exchange.
Mostly are famous for their growth over the years.
Tools I am using are:
Finviz - for scouting for the potential company via screener, fundamentally (descriptive) and technically (chart indicators).
TradingView - for finding new community indicators and backtesting strategies.
Lately, some of the large market cap companies tend to be favouring one of my newly discovered strategies on TradingView.
Known as: Candlestick Signals Strategy
Depending on the stock, it can be effective on one or certain timeframes. Hence, to maximize on profits I must dive into trading on all timeframes and try to make the portfolio as diverse as possible with at least 5-10 companies to keep the price actions coming.
An example. NVIDIA 4H
Great >10k% Net Profit stats
Average >50% Percent Profitable stats
Good >4.4 Profit factor
Bad but acceptable <50% Max DD
1 - 2 months trading interval
Do take note that we would need to find the best setup with a steady climb on equity growth (green line in chart). We may also research more on the negative drawdown peaks to see what went wrong during the time of trade, by clicking on those bars.
In the matter of fact, let's just invent a net profit / max DD metric a to simplify the experience of comparing different setups, which I may conclude them on a scoreboard among different instruments in the near future. So... stay tuned, will ya?!
